Customer Review: Fails To Deliver…
My partner brought me this by mistake as I wanted the PSP version. Owning both handhelds however, I did put the game on and I was disappointed to say the least: The “unique” touch screen control is a nice try but just fails to deliver great gameplay. Instead of feeling like your fighting in a wrestling match, you just feel like you are indeed “dragging the stylus across the screen”. You seem to spend more time looking at the icons on the screen, as oppose to watching the action take place. It isn’t exciting to play at all as a result which ultimately takes away any enjoyment which in my book, what a game is meant to aspire to. The wrestlers movements aren’t controllable in the ring, they just seem to stand in the middle of the ring unless a move is performed. The graphics aren’t bad, but the icons on-screen take your attention off the action. Overall, I found it greatly disappointing. The control system takes away any fun that could be had, for me. If you own any other consoles then I would strongly recommend that you try that version instead of this one. I promptly returned it back to the shop this morning which I exchanged for the PSP version which after 10 minutes play, I can say it is worthy of 5 stars alone compared to the DS version. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE THINK ABOUT MY COMMENTS BEFORE BUYING TO AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT…
Customer Review: WTF!!
this is proberly going to be terrible, like all the other wrestling games that have ever come out for hand held consoles!!!

In a nutshell:
It may have taken the world by storm with its huge range of genuinely innovative new games but there’s no denying that the Nintendo DS is not exactly the most portable of portable consoles. That’s all changed now with this sleek and sexy update.

The lowdown:
When the Nintendo DS was first announced it was dismissed by many as a white elephant - with a gimmicky interface and underpowered graphics. Over 15 million sales later and the story is a little different. The DS Lite is fully compatible with all existing Nintendo DS (and Game Boy Advance) games but it’s smaller, sleeker and lighter - with a new design that perfectly matches the Nintendo Wii console. The most impressive feature is the new backlit screens which offer the sharpest image ever seen on a portable console. The DS Lite is available in three separate colours: White, Black and Pink.

Most exciting feature:
The DS Lite now has four brightness settings - the highest is brighter than even the PSP and is clearly visible in any lighting condition. That sound? That’ll be Sony executives running to the hills - wearing sunglasses.

Since you ask:
The Nintendo DS is the fast selling console ever in Japan. When the DS Lite was released, it sold out instantly, with queues of over 1,000 people a common sight.

The bottom line:
The DS gets a face lift to become Nintendo’s best looking portable ever. - Harrison Dent

Customer Review: Females and Comuters
Nintendo are really trying to sell their DS to females and comuters (I’m female and a comuter). Having seen the DS advertised on the tube, I was keen on researching them to see if I would like it. I haven’t really played computer games since I was about 13 and I must say, its really come along way since then (I’m now 28). Firstly, the DS lite is a lovely small size and fits nicely into your handband. In fact, its much smaller than a book. I love playing my DS on the tube it really makes the time fly by. Normally, on the tube, I read a book or listen to my ipod, so its a nice change to be able to do something different. The games for the DS are great. My initial concern about getting a DS would be that the games were for males children. I’m not really into sports and fighting games but there are loads of games out and I’m sure you will find something you like. YOu can do puzzle games or even manage your own town, so games have come along way since the traditional view of games. This review is written from the view of a female so it might not be helpful for everyone, but if you are thinking if getting a DS - I recommend it.
Customer Review: The Nintendo DS Lite

Customer Review: Definately Buy This - It is such good value
I have now bought 2 of these. A blue one and now a pink one. They are excellent value. The charger is for a older type nintendo DS but there is a converter lead to change it so you can use it on DS lites. The case has plenty of room for your DS and any games you want to take. I will definately buy another one when my young son eventually has a DS.
Customer Review: Great value for money
I bought this from the Game shop (who no longer stock it) and it’s great value for money you can’t get all this for such a little price anywhere. Plus I love pink!

Customer Review: nyko fans stop working properly after a month
i bought the nyko cooler system, worked for about a month, then started making a strange noise, i felt round the back on xbox and it was nearly on fire, after that had red ring of death and freezing. ALOT of people have had problems with the nyko cooler, gonna try this cooler king out, also it doesnt use the xbox’s power like the nyko. nyko is a dream for a month, after that your back to square 1.
Customer Review: Buy this!
The NIKO is rubbish it does break the xbox 360.. It stops the xbox 360 gettting the power it needs! This dont do that. And it adds to extra fans so more air can go in and out of the xbox! I have one of these and i feel my xbox 360 is doing better than ever, i put my hand on the back and i can actually feel the air blowing my hand not boiling hot air and you think your xbox is on fire!

Customer Review: Good Stuff
No problems as of yet that I can see. Works well and was in an unopened package. If it holds out for another year, then I will be very happy. I hate spending a 100 bucks on something that crashes within a year of ownership.

Customer Review: Excellent value.
Really good kit for the price. The only things I haven’t used are the thumb stylus (but that’s purely because I prefer the stylus that comes with the DS), and the screen protectors (after reading reviews for many different ones, the protectors with the best reviews are the Official ones, which I’ve found to be really good). If you want to look after your DS, this pack has virtually everything you need and is definitely the one to go for!
Customer Review: Complete DS Lite Pack
This pack represents really good value for money. It contains all of the accessories you would need for a new console and the Case looks really nice

New release - Nyko Intercooler EX (Xbox 360)
Keep your Xbox 360 running at optimal conditions. The Intercooler EX for Xbox 360 is a snap on cooling attachment that easily connects to the Xbox 360. The Intercooler 360 provides increased air flow away from the 360 which allows the console to perform in a cooler, better ventilated environment ideal for cramped entrainment centers. No internal modification of the Xbox 360 is required. A pass through power connection utilizes the existing Xbox 360 power supply negating the need for an extra AC adaptor. The unit also powers on and off automatically with 360 and the intercoolers small size will fit in tight spaces like entertainment centers with your 360 displayed in either horizontal or vertical format.

Deal Or No Deal (Nintendo DS)

Customer Review: Repetitive and shallow gaming experience
I like Deal or No Deal a lot as a show, but essentially it is a fairly slim concept. You open boxes, the banker makes you an offer and you accept or reject. It can be really gripping television but sadly this attempt at making it into a game falls flat. The Nintendo DS version has three options - the regular game, playing as the banker or a forfeits version. There is also a mini-game that crops up once a game and will soon become grating as you have to follow a moving box and correctly identify it. Whilst the makers clearly want to add some variety to the game, by only having one such challenge it quickly becomes a chore. It would have been better to have a number of assorted tasks that can be completed. Variable difficulty levels might have made it more entertaining too - I certainly never had any problem following the boxes. The option to play as the banker is certainly an interesting twist (though the moving boxes mini-game makes an unwelcome appearance) though the novelty wears out fairly quickly. The biggest problem with this title is repetition. You’ll see the same tired old banker comments repeat each game, the musical score is bland and you will come to dread the appearance of the mini game. Then again, it was a near-impossible task for the game’s makers - without the tension in the studio the atmosphere of the show never really comes to life. Whilst it is fun to see a digital version of Noel Edmonds (and a number of interesting looking individuals holding boxes), the novelty quickly wears off.
Customer Review: i’m ready for the question…
i love the show so much and watch it every day. this arrival of this game means that i can play it all day and night. it’s so realistic as well - noel looks great and the other contestants look realistic. the game is set out just like in real life which makes the experience so much better than your bog standard other type of game. keep up the good work guys.

Customer Review: Very addictive
Firstly, i’ve read in a few places that people found this game dissapointing compared to the latest PC versions. What did these people expect? It’s a DS game, it isn’t able to compete with a decent PC. Apparently it’s a port of Sim City 2000 from the PC, and I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how much the developers have managed to cram into the little cart. My biggest worry was that, like the awful GBA version, the game map would be tiny. It isn’t. It’s massive! At first the controls are a little tricky, but you’ll soon get used to them. Most of the important bits are here, as well as all the disaster options, landmarks, bonusses… And if like me, you just like to turn off all the disasters and just slowly and painstakingly design your own city from scratch, I can guarantee that you’ll waste hours / days / weeks on this addictive game. Probably the best strategy title (apart from Advance Wars) on the DS in my opinion.
Customer Review: Pritty Good
The game being played on the DS is awesome but it has the usual problems when taking a PC game and putting it onto the DS console. The controls take a while to get used to, it can run very slow at times and the saving and loading takes for ever. The intricacies of the game such a s finding out how many donuts the police station gets through is missing and the scenery is flat, it is either water or land. However the real essence of the game is there. The game has only one view point, two levels of zoom and two speeds. This does mean that waiting to build up finds you really have to wait, and things like airports and advanced power plants can take hours or day of playing time to get. But over all the game is really good, as addictive as the original and the bonus of being able to put a city in your pocket. As a newbie to Sim City you will think its great, as an experienced player you will be disappointed by the bits missing but is still really worth getting.

Customer Review: surprisingly addictive if you give it a chance
The first couple of times I played this it just seemed too simplistic and boring. But then as the difficulty of the shifts increased and targets got higher it started getting really addictive. Its very simple in its concept - and really a lot of the best games are. I’m not sure that many guys would like this game, not because of the main character ‘flo’ being girl, but its all about multitasking, and lets face it that not a boy thing!. For successful shifts you get rewarded with new outfits and make-overs for the restaurant, and ultimately unlock new restuarants. Overall its a good game and good for all ages.
Customer Review: Great game
I bought this about 2 weeks ago and only just had a chance to play it. I wondered really wether I was doing the right thing in buying it at the time but have to say this game is really good fun. You have to seat, serve and clear up after customers, keeping the queue down and trying to organise the way you do things to get the most money out of the customers. I could see how some people might find it a bit repetitive but the challenge every time to reach the target in every shift really makes it worth it. As a little treat you get to upgrade your resturant and add things to it. You have to make the customers experience extra good so that they tip you more and dont walk out. Its a great little game, I was pleasantly suprised when I played it.

Black UMD and Memory Stick Ms Duo Airform Pouch Case for Sony PSP
Customer Review: Great case for your collection but a bit fat
This case offers great protection, but it’s pretty fat, stout and round. The shell’s a bit forgiving, but don’t plan on smooshing the thing to fit it into an already over-stuffed carry bag. After all, it’s a formed case.

Worth the buy if you have extra room in your carry bag, or if you plan on leaving it out in the open, like on a desk, or shelf.

Sony PSP Super Travel Kit 26 in 1 Everything You Need on the Road

November 29th, 2007

Pokemon Ruby Pok?mon Ruby’s updated graphics with weather effects, amazing sound, more than 200 Pok?mon with over 100 new species–as well as its faithful adherence to the existing series of Pok?mon games–makes for a welcome evolution in the series.

First, the game has a lot in common with Pok?mon games Silver, Gold, and Crystal. For example, players can choose to be a boy or a girl trainer, an internal clock sets events at certain times, and you’re the game’s handy-dandy Pok?dex helps players keep track of the many stats. You’re main goal is still to beat all the Gym Trainers and become the Pok?mon Master. If you’ve played the old games, you will be right at home. But not all is the same.

The most obvious change is in the battles themselves. Now that two Pok?mon can fight on your side at the same time, you can tag-team them against an enemy by taking advantage of the strengths of your Pok?mons while covering their weaknesses. For example, you can now have a water Pok?mon watch your fire Pok?mon’s back. You can also attack more than one Pok?mon at a time.

A whole new element to the game focuses on how berries are used in battle. And if you collect enough berries, you can take them to a Berry Blender and make a Pok?Block, which is a little super-charged candy that raises your Pok?mon’s “Condition” attributes. You can then groom your Pok?mon for regional contests and compete for ribbons like “Best of Show,” which will unlock additional contests. There’s even strategy in how to best use your berries: pick too many and the berry tree will disappear; plant berries, though, and a tree will grow. You can also build a Secret Base in special areas of the game, which you can decorate just like you can your room.

And let us not forget that Pok?mon Ruby has a kickin’ multiplayer system, too. You can trade Pok?mon, and link up to four players for incredible battles. The only downside is that you can’t link up with the old Game Boy Color games. –Bryan Karsh

Pros:

  • You can control two Pok?mon in battle
  • Much needed graphic and sound facelift
  • Nice multiplayer feature (requires link cable and extra game cartridge)

Cons:

  • Can’t trade Pok?mon with Game Boy Color

Customer Review: Lewis’s opinion

Bill Romero - Golf - Art Print (12×12)

Game Boy Advance Console - Clear Red
The Game Boy Advance Console features power that would have been unthinkable back when the original Game Boy was launched. Its 32-bit RISC CPU runs circles around the former machine’s 8-bit workhorse, allowing it to process program instructions much faster. What that means to everyday gamers is more intricate visuals, more simultaneous movement on the screen and better sound. In fact, the often-annoying bleeps and bloops of old-school Game Boy titles are being replaced with digitised stereo sound. When you first pick up the system, you’ll notice how lightweight it is. It’s a little less than 150 grams but a little larger than a deck of playing cards. The GBA’s wider shape fits better into a wider range of hands and the screen is fitted with antiglare technology–you need pretty good light to play by but you won’t be craning your neck and tilting the unit to see around the reflection of the light bulb in your screen.

You’ll also notice the graphics. Essentially sporting redesigned SNES technology, you’ll see things on the GBA that the big consoles do, such as scaling (making objects larger or smaller) and rotation effects–technological advances that will affect the look of everything from crossing a finish line to scoring a goal to crawling through a dungeon. The extra processing muscle also means you can network up to four Game Boy Advance units together, via the communication cable, for multiplayer fun from one shared cartridge. Because the Game Boy Advance system is backward-compatible, it will play not only its own line of colourful games–including such launch titles as Super Mario Advance, F-Zero: Maximum Velocity, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 and Kuru Kuru Kurunin–but also nearly all the monochrome and colour games that have already been released for the previous Game Boy systems. It seems that Nintendo have wisely struck a balance between size, price and power consumption. And considering how well the old 8-bit system weathered the decade’s technological storms, the Game Boy Advance should be here to stay. –Porter B Hall

Customer Review: A handheld console that you’ll treasure
This is something that you’ve got to have. There’s absolutely loads of games for it of numerous different genres and age ranges. You can get it in your favourite colour and the graphics have come on in leaps and bounds. If you already own a home console then do get this as well as you can play it anywhere but I would advise that you don’t get the same games for both as the graphics and sound would be miles better on your home console. I think everyone should have a GBA it’s great value for money and if you get great games you won’t be able to put it down.
Customer Review: Be Warned…
I’ve wanted one of these for ages…imagine, having a console in the palm of your hand! However, as amazing as the graphics are, it’s just so hard to see them. The screen is dark enough, even in perfect light conditions, but when it comes to playing where there’s bad light - forget it. It’s impossible to see, and the addition of an add-on light doesn’t help - light is reflected back and you end up squinting and fidgiting trying to get the right position. Why didn’t Nintendo put a backlight on? I mean, there could be a switch to decide if you wanted it on or off, so that would sort out the battery issues. A great console with great games, shame you can’t really see them properly.

MaxPlay Game Boy Advance 3 in 1 Magnifier
Customer Review: gameboy advance 3 in 1 maxplay light magnifier
This is a combined light magnifier and control grip (which will prevent wearing the original buttons out,) it is well designed and easy to use. This product will work as a light so you dont have to keep going over to the window to see your gba screen, it also works as a magnifier which makes the screen bolder and easier to see. If you don’t already have this, then its a must buy accessory. Its a gba dream cone true.

Customer Review: Fantastic Quality.
I really didn’t know what to expect when ordering this item other than the countless numbers of appraises when it comes to Hori quality sticks and I must say I’m very impressed. Upon receiving my package the first thing I noticed was how well built the actual stick is when compared to lesser known brands. I’ve always wanted an arcade stick but have been let down before by countless numbers of cheaply made imitations, Hori clearly know their stuff when it comes to near arcade perfection in terms of design and control. This stick works like a dream and will only take the minimum of 5 minutes to get used to if you’ve mainly used a pad for fighting games (like me) it’s very easy to get to grips with. This stick is also perfect for a few games available for XBLA such as Gauntlet, Golden Axe, Fatal Fury, Alien Hominid, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, TMNT Arcade, Super Contra, Streets of Rage 2, etc the list goes on. So far I’ve only tried this stick with the Virtua Fighter 5 Demo (it’s not available in the UK at the moment) a few selected XBLA titles and the Street Fighter Anniversary Collection and it works like a dream. On Street Fighter III Third Strike I was playing better than I ever was before I was really suprised how I was amazingly parrying most of my foes moves with ease, perfect. With Virtua Fighter 5 it works just as you’d expect a stick specifically designed for a game would work… fantastic! I just can’t wait to get my hands on the actual game now. Such an amazing purchase, quite expensive but worth every single penny for fighting game enthusiasts or even XBLA users.
Customer Review: Quality arcade stick by Hori
Hori is the daddy when it comes to arcade sticks for fighting games. This VF5 stick is exactly the same in design and build to that of the DOA4 stick which is quality. I pre-ordered the very rare DOA4 stick from Lik-Sang and was not disappointed when it arrived. If your into your fighting games and remember playing them in the arcades then this is for you. It may take you a few hours playing to adjust to the stick from a paddle but it’s worth your time. The arcade stick sits nicely on your lap and is quite robust but not too heavy. The stick & buttons are very responsive and in a whole the arcade stick just feels & looks well made. I’ve pre-ordered this to go with my DOA4 stick as Hori always do the biz.

Customer Review: Good pony game
If you like ponies or horses, this game is for you. It has excellent graphics and is very realisic. I like the horses, they are very calm and gentle. The scenery is very pretty too. In this game, you can care for, ride and stroke your pony. Of course you can do many other things, but these are the main things. Its hard to get money in this game, but I suppose then it lasts longer. If you like action packed games, this isn’t really for you. Its an extremily calm sort of game, and doesnt require you to think much. I think the downside is that maybe its a bit depressing. The horses seem sad most of the time and you can’t realy do an awful lot. At least you can enter them in races though. ANyway, I’d say this is a general good game.
Customer Review: The BEST game ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is really cool! You start off by buying a pony. You can decide if you want to buy a real breed or if you want to make your own one. It is posible to have three ponies at once. The trail rides are SOO real. The graphics are always good. Some people won’t like this game because you don’t get to steer the pony, but to be honest there are so many other things to do that you don’t really have time. You can take photos of animals and look for gates to unlock new trails. A must for all pony lovers!!!!!!!!

Customer Review: Set up for a 360? It was a no go for me.
I’m not sure what the manufacturers mean when they say this includes a “console adapter”. There wasn’t anything matching that description in the box I received. I assumed it meant it had an optical lead, or at least some means of plugging into the 360, but it clearly does not - there isn’t an optical port to be found on the thing, which means the only way to get this working with the 360 is through a separate amp. Eventually, I was able to run the thing through my PC’s hoopy external soundcard, but it’s hardly ideal, because cables are everywhere and I have to have my PC turned on in order to use my Xbox. And, for some reason I can’t fathom, it still wouldn’t output 5.1, but only stereo. Switching the Xbox to 5.1 caused the speakers to emit an unpleasant garbled buzzing noise. Generally, disastrous. The system is probably fine otherwise (hence the generous two stars) but it is not, as advertised, the perfect solution for 5.1 on the Xbox 360, since it has neither optical support nor the mysterious “console adapter” to which the manufacturer’s description refers.
Customer Review: Very Good for the price
These speakers produce outstandingly loud and clear surround sound that is extremely beneficial and enjoyable when playing games and listening to music hence the high score. However they are not perfect. I had difficulty setting them up and i still cannot get the center and woofer to work properly (when i do sound tests they simply act as third and fourth front speakers, this isnt really noticable however excpet for slightly in games). I could only even get the woofer and center speakers to work in the fashoin by messing about the the plugs so that theyre only half plugged in(otherwise: no sound). Another criticism i have of the design is that the wires for the speakers and very long and the speakers come with no means of attacking to a wall or suspending. Overall i would recomend this item for its quality and price.

PSP 2000 Console - Piano Black
The PSP is the first truly integrated handheld entertainment system designed to handle multiple applications — music, video, communication, and wireless networking, with games as its primary driver. PSP brings an unparalleled gaming experience to a handheld platform, allowing users to enjoy 3D games, with high-quality, full-motion video, and high-fidelity stereo audio. With graphics rendering capability comparable to that of PlayStation?2, PSP features a 4.3-inch wide screen, high-resolution TFT display. PSP also adopts a newly developed, proprietary compact but high-capacity (1.8GB) optical disc, Universal Media Disc (UMD), as its storage medium.

How to use the PSP 2000 - Piano Black

Customer Review: No Annoying Fingerprints
My only complaint about the original PSP was the gloss finish to the system. I couldn’t hold the system without getting fingerprints all over it and I was constantly cleaning it. I heard about the PSP 2000 and initially I hadn’t planned on buying one. I reconsidered after hearing about some of the improvements.

For starters it is significantly lighter than the original PSP and of course it is thinner. Personally I liked the original size of the system. It is much easier to grip but I do like the lighter weight. It allows me to play my games for an extended period of time.

The system still uses the gloss finish and now the back side of the system has that same finish (similar to the Nintendo DS). With it getting close to winter it’s not too big of a deal but when summer comes that is going to be a problem. On the plus side if you buy the white or the silver PSP you’ll only have to worry about fingerprints on the screen. The black PSP still has the same problem as the original PSP. I would highly recommend getting a screen protector.

The PSP ram memory has been upgraded to 64MB to improve load times. One game I’m definitely seeing is taking advantage of this is Final Fantasy Tactics. On my old PSP this game was plagued by load times. On the 2000 I noticed during battles the action doesn’t pause when a character performs a special move (casting spells or summons, et cetera.) As far as the games themselves loading I’m not seeing a difference.

I purchased the Daxter pack specifically for the 1GB memory card so I could listen to my music at work. In the past I would have never used my PSP as a music player but I’ve had nothing but problems with all the mp3 players I’ve purchased. I was considering getting an iPod when I had the idea to use my PSP. I don’t have to go out and buy me a carrying case because I already own one and now I have my games and my music in one device. Wish I had though of that sooner before I threw my money away on all those media players. I have to say the PSP is not a bad music player. The sound quality is about as good as all my other mp3 players. It’s too bad it does work with the Windows Media Player Sync feature. It would have been nice to be able to Sync all of my playlist.

Overall the PSP is the best handheld out there on the market… at least in my opinion. Of course it seems I’m a minority in this but it definitely beats out the Nintendo DS. There are just more variety of games to choose from on the PSP than the DS. The games look better and they play better because you don’t have to get used to a new control scheme (I’m referring to the stylus on the DS).

In this land, each Penguin needs a Heartsong to attract a soul mate. Unfortunately, Mumble is the worst singer in the world… But he is a brilliant tap dancer! Based on the general storyline of the film, the player will be able to experience life from the point of view of Mumble in music, dance and interaction with the friends and enemies of the penguin’s world.
Customer Review: Sadly, a Waste of Money
While this game may be good on other gaming consoles, I do not recommend it for the GBA for anyone of any age. The total time it takes to play the game is less than 2 hours. There are no side quests, there are no special features, and the story is nothing but a super condensed version of the movie. It’s repetative and a complete let down once you finish the game. Somehow, I really thought I would get more than 2 hours of gameplay for spending $30.

This case is the absolute best insurance policy for all PSP owners. Ive dropped my System countless times and i don’t even have to worry about damage. This product is the Best! Theres no other like it, its like a bullet proof vest for your PSP!
Customer Review: not really for the psp2k
i just bought a piano black psp2k (mostly for movies while travelling) and thought this case would offer good protection while in my bag, which it does. the reason that i gave it 2 stars is that one of the best features for my intended purpose was the 270 degree hinge to make a stand while watching movies. unfortunately the psp2k headphone jack is in a place that’s covered (just barely) so there’s no way to use this a stand and have your headphones plugged in. the wireless on/off is also covered so that’s useless as well. i think it should be noted in the product description that this item doesn’t work well (other than protection) for the psp2k. unfortunate.

Customer Review: can only give 1 star as game never turned up
I ordered this game as a birthday gift and as yet the game still hasn’t arrived and now am not expecting it to.I have since heard some horror stories about amazon deliveries and now I can believe them. I have shopped with Amazon for several years and had planned to buy many gifts for christmas but now am reluctant due to probable loss of items. I know people may moan about the ROYAL MAIL but they always delivered my items either on time or earlier than expected. All I can say is “COME ON AMAZON GIVE US A COMPANY THAT DELIVERS OUR ORDERS”. Please don’t let this review put you off the game but instead there are many retailers out there selling it for the same price as Amazon and with them you don’t have to enter the lottery of whether the item will turn up!!! YOU HAVE ALL BEEN WARNED.

At first look, you might think the Game Boy Advance SP is a sleek travel alarm clock; when closed, it’s just as tall and deep as the original GBA, but only half as wide. Its clamshell design protects the screen from everyday scratches. Open it up and the hinge will seek out a preferred, pre-set angle (about 150 degrees), though you can open it a bit wider or narrower for your own comfort. The hinge stands up well to lateral pressure.

Many decried the original GBA’s reflective LCD screen and its reliance on external light sources. The Game Boy Advance SP’s main feature–optional built-in lighting–fixes this complaint nicely. The quality of the backlighting is very good; it’s bright and clear when looking directly at the screen, though less so from other angles.

The SP comes with a power adapter that recharges a built-in lithium battery; our informal tests found that it takes about four hours to fully charge (you can play it while it’s plugged in and charging), and the battery lasts about 11 hours with the backlighting constantly on. Using the backlighting less often will conserve battery power.

Size, power, and affordability don’t come without trade offs, though. There’s no headphone jack here–you’ll need a separately sold adapter–and the system isn’t very loud at its highest volume. The L and R shoulder buttons are a fraction of the size they were on the GBA, and thus are harder to hit, and the reduced size of the SP is slightly less comfortable for adult hands than the GBA. The cartridge port placement on the lower part of the console is fine for GBA games, since they are flush with the console body, but older Game Boy Color carts will stick out in a way that takes some getting used to.

Overall, the SP is a significant improvement on, and seems just as rugged as, its predecessor–which has proven to be very rugged indeed. –Porter B Hall

Customer Review: Oh boy I wish I still had mine!
I sold my GBA SP Classic NES edition to help pay for my Nintendo DS. I really like the DS but oh boy do I miss this beauty of a machine. Let’s get the moans out of the way, yes the GBA SP only had a front light and not a proper back light so the screen isn’t as colourful as the DS. And yes, you had to pay extra for an adapter if you wanted to use headphones. But stuff that, this thing is amazing and I miss my old one! So why was it so good? Well the design was spot one. I get finger burn and cramps from my DS light and my PSP when I try to play racing games, never got any pain from the GBA SP. Also this was the last portabl console to have the traditional Gameboy style layout of control buttons under the screen (instead of either side like the Lynx, GG, GBA, Neo Geo, DS & PSP). For some reason I find this layout better, don’t ask me why it just is. Some truths are as unedinable as they are unquontifiable! Next up: the NES design is a winner, easily the best looking console I’ve owned. The DS lite is sleek but this baby had charm. The light weight clam shell design is very small indeed and easily fits into any pocket I ever had. Also the battery life took a mighty wacking on many occassions. But the main reason I loved this console was the games. The great titles just kept coming and coming. I was getting a soar neck from trying to angle my old GBA under a lamp to see them. The GBA SP meant I could actually enjoy my games without hurting myself, which I think you will agree makes a nice bonus! Advance Wars, Mario Golf Advance, Sonic Advance, FIre Emblem, Metroid Fusion, Wario Ware Twisted, Aria of Sorrow, Golden Sun and Astro Boy are as good as the best any system has to offer. In fact I argue that the GBA has a lot more AAA titles then the N64, the Cube, the Xbox or any of the current gen consoles. I still play many of the GBA RPGs and SRPGs on my DS as they are yet to be bettered. But some how they doesn’t quite feel the same as they did on the GBA SP NES edition. If you’ve got one KEEP IT!
Customer Review: one of the best!
I bought one of these the day it was released and I had so much fun with it and had some cracking games for it, notably Zelda! The handheld looks gorgeous, even today, its light and can easily store it in your pocket when not using it! I sadly no longer had it as I got a psp and a DS Lite, and I got to say, for a upgrade from the GBA SP, you got to get the DS Lite, as that can play the GBA games too as well as the many great DS titles that are available to own, but the GBA is still a greta buy today if you just want a handheld with no special features like touch screen. The GBA has a lot of games from all different types to offer and so you can’t go wrong with this beauty!

Silicon Skin Protective Cover for Sony PSP Console Playstation + Clear Screen Protector + Cloth to clean your PSP
Customer Review: PSP Silicon Skin
I bought a PSP Silicon Skin Protective Cover about a month previously, and in the time Ive been using it I wonder how I did without it. It comes in a variety of colors and fits snugly to your PSP console. The stretchy, soft silicon is very comfortable on your hands for gameplay, the skin itself is so arranged that you can use all your ports with the skin on with the exception of memory stick removal. The back has a mere flap so access to switching games is not impeded. The skin has built-in button covers but they do not make using buttons more difficult, infact they are surprisingly more comfortable than the buttons themselves. Included with the skin is a clear screen cover, which protects the glass PSP screen from scratches and makes it easier to keep clean. The product is excellent and I would recommend it to any PSP owner.

As soon as I got my pink DS, I had to get the accessory pack to go with it. The case is very handy, as when I put it in my bag, I don’t have to worry about my DS getting scratched or dirty. It’s a bit bulky, and the colour didn’t really match the pink on the DS, but it’s not really a big problem. I love the earphones with the volume control on it, and the in car charger is very useful. I don’t use the game case much, as I only have one game at the moment, and the colour of the case makes it look cheap. But all in all, it was a good choice to buy the pack!

Got this to go with the DS lite. It all is fine. Excellent little case to carry 3 games and keep a spare pen to. Its hard covered so protects the DS. Also has a carry strap. Customer Review: Flippin’ useless.
Flipper Critters is a novel twist on the pinball theme. Unfortunately it’s a mess when it could have been good. There’s colourful 3D graphics spread over both screens, novel rotating tables with three sets of flippers in the middle, and the ball physics is pretty good. Sadly, the rest of the game is half-baked. The main problem with the game is that most of the time you don’t know what to do. The in-game instructions are vague and you lose most of your balls before you randomly stumble upon the next task. The bright graphics work against the gameplay - it’s difficult to tell the difference between scenery and targets. A lot of time is wasted pointlessly flipping the ball about scoring nothing. Critters doesn’t have any really major faults, but there are so many irritating niggles - far too many to list them all - that playing the game is more of an ordeal than a pleasure. Metroid Prime Pinball is a much better game. Buy that instead.

Customer Review: It’s so much quieter and cooler.
At first sight the 40GB model doesn’t seem good value when you can get the backwards compatability 60GB with two games for an extra ?50, but the 40GB model contains the newer 60nm cell chip which uses less power. The best thing about the new 40GB is that it is so very much quieter and throws out a lot less heat, my old 60GB used to get very hot, but worse than that it was way too noisy which could be distracting at times. If backwards compatability with the Playstation 2 is important to you then the 40GB won’t be any use to you. Me personally, I am very happy to sacrifice the BC and extra 20GB for the quieter cooler operation of the 40GB.
Customer Review: New PS3 entry level model
The first thing that will hit you about this model is the price. It’s lower. Usually these price drops come from economies of scale. Not here, it comes from stripping out features. Gone is the PS2 support, make no mistake, that’s a huge library of games now unavailable. Also gone is the card reader, not much of a loss there. Also lost is 20gb of space, which is a loss depending on if you intend to use this as a gaming machine or entertainment hub. Sony’s hand has been forced here because they had priced themselves out of the market and are firmly behind Wii and 360. So this is their answer. The upside for the consumer is that you can now play Blu-Ray and PS3 games at a lower price. You also get free online play unlike the 360 that will save you money in the long run. However the PS3 has stalled due to the lack of good games, cancelled games and constant delays. My advice to consumers would be wait to see if there is a further price drop and see if the ‘exclusive’ games are worth paying out this much for. There is little advantage from buying this model right now.

I don’t know why logitech doesn’t advertise this as a PC wheel. 900 degrees of rotation takes a bit getting used to. You can set it anywhere between 40-900 degrees under game controller setup in windows. Lots of buttons on the wheels, but not paddle shifters. Its more like paddle buttons, but I like to use the stick shifter instead. I had a Nascar Thrustmaster Force previously, and the DFP is much better at producing FFB effects. In fact, I had to tone it down because it was strong at default settings. Its also a tad smaller than my previous wheel so I have more space on my desk to mount it. The brake and gas pedals also have different spring tensions which makes it a little more realistic. The gears still make a lot of noise as with the Thrustmaster when turning, but its definitely smoother. I don’t feel the ‘notchiness’ of the gears. Playing GT2, GTL, LFS, and Richard Burns Rally with it.

I don’t have a PS2, but from the reviews it should work great also.

Customer Review: So repetitive
This is the first Harry Potter game I’ve played. I thought the film was the best so far and it’s a very good book. This game starts quite well and I found it interesting to use the stylus to cast spells, but it quickly got very repetitive. I agree with the other reviewers as it sucked all the fun out of playing and just trying to get to the end. I was on a task and noticed I was going to cross the courtyard and thought “Oh no, I’m going to have to duel yet again!”. Not because it’s hard, but it’s so boring. Also, did the game end on task 28 as no credits came up and I’ve still not even completed 50% of the game according to the save slot? I’ve even done all the mini-game lessons, won a lot of other games and it seems shocking that I’m not even half way through!!!
Customer Review: harry potter order of the phoenix
I was looking forward to playing this game, after just finishing The Goblet of Fire, which was not brilliant but took me over a week to finish and had some difficult tasks especially towards the end, but this took me one day to finish and was boring to the extreme. Too many tasks which are the same and too much time wandering around the school looking for the next task. The duels were too easy. I wouldn’t recommend this game.

Customer Review: Absorbing mental challenge
The premise is simple - you must uncover a picture using only the numbers at the side and top of a grid to guide you which of the boxes should be filled or remain blank . The pick up and play approach , long associated with Nintendo handheld games , is again in evidence here . The puzzles are myriad , and will keep you playing - ‘just one more go’ . There is also the opportunity for daily challenges and wireless play .
Customer Review: Fun, in sudoku-ish style
I’m actually torn between loving this game and finding it mildly irritating. The premise is very very simple: you have a grid, and next to each row and column a set of numbers indicating the length (and order) of each contiguous block of cells you need to select. Take a look at the screenshots and you should see what I mean. This game probably is most suitable for people who enjoy logic puzzles (sudoku et cetera), though the starting levels are easily accessible enough for anyone to pick up. The built-in puzzles are finite (though large) in number, but there is also an editor so that you can create your own (presumably to share with your equally-geeky friends), so you shouldn’t hit a premature lack of content. I do have some gripes about this product: the controls are slightly fiddly, and playing for long periods on the larger (15×15) grids may make your head hurt from looking at the tiny numbers. People who get easily frustrated by tough logic problems will find levels past the earlier ones to be unpleasant, but with patience and careful calculation they certainly all seem to be solvable, and indeed the learning curve is pretty comfortable. Overall, it’s an excellent way to waste 10 mins - 1 hour at a time, and pretty addictive. Very much worth buying (even over things like Brain Training) if you have a DS and want some games which are more pick-up-and-play.

In a nutshell:
Possibly the least obscure game title ever, this does exactly what it says on the tin with forty-two classics from chess and backgammon, to darts, poker, bridge and solitaire.

The lowdown:
The surprising thing about this game is that nobody’s thought to do it before. The games are split into three varieties of card game and two of board games, plus a selection of “action” games including bowling, darts and billiards. Playing the card games is just as easy as you’d expect with two screens and a stylus, whether it’s Old Maid and Pig or Texas Hold `Em and Bridge. The board games work just as well, with Chinese Checkers, Checkers (i.e. Draughts), Dots and Boxes and more. You’ll also find games like Turncoat (i.e. Othello), “Connect Five”, Ludo, Mahjong and Solitaire. You have got to go to some effort not to find something of interest amongst this selection.

Most exciting moment:
The best thing about having so many games is that, except for the ones that are purposefully single player, they can all be played online. If you’re playing against a friend you can even chat using a PictoChat style interface.

Since you ask:
The Japanese and Western versions of the game have several different exclusive games. Japan never got Texas Hold ‘Em, Dots and Boxes, Grid Attack, Ludo, Dominoes, Escape or Mahjong Solitaire but instead have Napoleon, Goninkan, Bozumekuri, Sugoroku, Size Game, Last One and Mini Golf in their version.

The bottom line:
The one video games compendium that really is for everyone. - HARRISON DENT
