Customer Review: project gotham racing?
Im not sure about this game. The graphics are awesome but you oversteer at every corner and the only difference between the cars is their top speed. I think this game is good for first time players in all car games. I wouldnt reccomend it to experienced gamers. It isnt anything special.
Customer Review: Top Gear!!
I was a huge fan of Metropolis Street Racer on the Dreamcast, so when I found out that PGR3 was in the pipeline I was excited, VERY excited! MSR was unique in the way you were awarded for how you drove, not how fast you drove. PGR3 is everything MSR was and so much more. Everything about this game oozes class. Graphically it’s gorgeous! everything from the hands on Big Bens clock face to the gravel on Las Vegas strip is beautiful but it’s the gameplay where this game excels. You are actually awarded for how you drive fast, not how fast you drive, and thats what makes this game so brilliantly unique. Drifting your Ferrari around a 90 degree bend and leaving the pack in your own tyre smoke, breathtaking!

Rayman Advance Rayman Advance is perhaps the first real must-play Game Boy Advance game available. It’s a full conversion of the PlayStation classic brought to life in vivid detail with level-by-level optimisations, gorgeous graphics, large, detailed and well-animated characters and that patented Rayman gameplay that Ubi Soft has been delivering for years now.

Those unfamiliar with the character and story should expect yet another cute take on the 2-D side-scrolling adventure game but Rayman easily stands alongside Mario in terms of brilliance. Rayman, a cute, big-nosed guy with a pompadour fringe and an infectiously upbeat attitude, is the Guardian of the World. Oddly, he has hands and feet but no arms or legs to support them–but that doesn’t stop him from doing his thing. His powers include jumping, clinging to ledges, using his ears as a helicopter, and most importantly, punching. A helpful fairy doles out these powers to you as you complete tasks and progress in the game. Rayman’s task, as usual, is to defeat enemies and free creatures (called Toons) caught in great iron boxes. He also collects “tings”, which he can use to barter with magicians as he rids his bizarre little world of oppression from the likes of colourful bosses Moskito and big bad Space Mama.

The most striking thing about Rayman Advance is its graphics and gameplay. The design is extremely creative, there are things to bounce on, ride and grab and other tricks to do. It’s the sort of game that always has you doing something new, which is no mean feat considering it spans 60 levels. A first rate 2-D platform game for all ages. –Andrew S Bub
Customer Review: A classic conversion of the PS1 game.
Try telling people that Rayman Adavcne is an almost perfect conversion of the original playstaion platformer, and theyll shake theyre heads in disbelief. But it’s true! One one tiny cart lives a game that can trade punches with it’s home console counterpart, and still come out on top.
The smaller screen may hinder the game in some respects, but what you’re looking at is a retina feast. And while it may all seem incredibly sweet on the surface, the playing expierience is anything but, offering a masterclass in side-scrolling platform gaming.
The story, which propels Rayman through sixty levels and six worlds, in unchanged. Mr Dark, a masked villain, has invaded Raymans world and kidnapped the Toons. From here follows a journey across perilous terrain to mind the missing toons and rid the world of Mr Dark and his merry band of malcontants. And only Rayman is up for the job!
Despite the games visual style and originality, the process of beating the game is very traditional, with power-ups, collectibles, and regular boss fights. Dont let this put yoou off because, when it’s done as well as Rayman Advance, it’s an absolute pleasure to play.
At the beginning of the game Rayman has very few powers - bar jumping and doing farts - and you’ll probably feel restricted by his lack of moves. But before long new abilities are added to his repertoire, including a powerful punch move and the skills to climb, swing, grapple and hover.
Using the moves turns out to be top fun, due to the tight controls and excellent character animations. And from the first experiments with the super-flexible punch move, you know you’ve got a very special game in the palm of your hand.
In the long term Rayman’s slow start helps, because at the start you’ll wander around seeing many things you can’t reach and you realize when you have the right move, you can come back and get there. All in all a very long and fun rewarding quest.
Customer Review: Absolutely fabulous!!
I’d never played Rayman before so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. As far as I’m concerned, this is one awesome game. I have quite a few GBA games now but this is one that I keep returning to. There’s so much in here to keep you interested and the attention to detail is amazing - just when you think you’ve got the game sussed, there’s always something new popping up! Great graphics, slightly dodgy soundtrack, first-class gameplay. Rayman rules! No arguments!

Customer Review: atmospheric and some nice touches
I love interesting, slow atmospheric games and so much about this game was satisfying. Right from the start I was impressed by the tube stations, the sounds and the realistic behavior of the other people. there are televisions you can watch whole films on! and loads of other nice touches like that. The voice acting is also first rate. the first world war levels are genuinely eerie in places. I’m very interested in toilets in games and I’d say this game has the best toilets yet, you can almost smell the urine. Things I was disappointed by included one or two glitches with sub missions. The overall depressing feel of the game. limited scope of the environments, for example what there is is excellent, but you go back there so many times, it would have been nicer to have a little more size and variety. A very interesting an original game though.
Customer Review: Atmospheric
This is a fairly slow FPS that’s strong on story and character development. It does quite a good job of building the atmosphere and I found the scenes in hell to be genuinely unsettling - there are only about 3 games that have ever had that effect on me. The Darkness powers add an original twist and it takes a while to get used to thinking your way through situations (running out all guns blazing usually leaves you dead).

Customer Review: What a cool controller!
This controller (and it’s companion) are the definitive additions to any Halo fan’s collection. They are pretty much the same, in terms of controller quality, as all other Xbox 360 controllers. However, it is pretty sweet to play with your favorite faction scrawled across your controller.

FIFA 08 (PS3)

The greatest battle of the new football season is not between any real world club but between the virtual giants of FIFA and Pro Evolution Soccer. Konami’s game has always been the favourite but last year FIFA closed the gap to such a degree that the title race has never been closer. This year’s FIFA uses a completely new game engine, for the first time built specifically for the next gen consoles. But improved graphics and animation are only the half of it, with just as much focus going on the artificial intelligence thanks to the new “35 point decision engine”. What this basically means is that every player on the pitch is fully aware of those around him and constantly thinking about tactics and position when not under your control.

Other changes include better modelled physics for taking a shot on goal, which take into account everything from air pressure to the angle of your foot. You’re also able to create your own special moves to replicate every possible trick from real life. There are also new game modes including Be A Pro which challenges you to play the role of a single player through a whole season or career. On top of this there are revamped online leagues to play a virtual season in the Premier League, Bundesliga, French League or Mexican 1st Division against real opponents. With 620 licensed teams, 30 offline leagues and 15,000 players as well FIFA might just have made enough new signings this year to put it over the top.

Customer Review: Great accessory
After watching people posting up their videos of Singstar i was hooked so i had to go out and get it. This item is an absolute gem and i hope Sony include it in the future as part of their ps3 packages. I got it on day of release from amazon for a pretty reasonable ?25 or so. The camera captures in 640×480 and is useful in a number of games and other options and also includes a high quality microphone. When you first connect the camera the only fuction which will operate so you will need to use the xmb to activate the microphone function if you wish to use it. I personally have it turned off because if its active and attached it shows up as you having a microphone in games like COD4. There are a number of games availble to purchase from the playstation store. I have the one where you need to rescue the blurps by moving yours hands. The camera on the whole is pretty accurate at picking up movement but can make the odd mistake which can be a little annoying. In games such as singstar it randomly takes shots of you singing and also a 30sec or so clip so you can upload it if you wish which adds to the expierence. At this time of the year its nice to capture films of family making a fool of themselves :) I havent tried the video call feature yet but that is another use of the camera (6 way video chat). This is well worth getting.

Customer Review: Wario Land 4
This Game is fantastic it’s got over 5 transformations, 16 levels, 5 bosses and lots of secret cds!!!! And the 16 great levels won’t go quick!!!!!….. If you have the chance BUY IT! It’s not short at all! And it’s a brilliant wario game!!!!!!!!!! HIGHLY RECCOMENDED!!!!!!!
Customer Review: too short
this game is immense fun. just look at some of the other reviews. it’s a nice twist on the same old basic “mario” style gameplay - well designed levels, good enemies, etc. the problem is it’s so short. excluding the training mission there are 4 areas with 4 levels in each; 16 levels and then a boss stage for each. then 1 final level and final boss. 17 levels and 5 bosses. sounds ok but any gamer with experience will blast through the levels and may only find the bosses a challenge. It actually only took me a single day to finish this game. A hugely entertaining day but only one day. it’s up to you, if you’re an experienced gamer you may find it doesn’t have enough to hold your attention however if you’re more of a casual gamer and only play occasionally this may suit you.

Tweety & the Magic Gems
List Price: ?19.99
Used Price: ?5.49
Customer Review: Nice board game!
This is exactly like playing a board game, only more fun as it is enhanced by nice graphics. I have only had a go at it against the computer, but I imagine it should be much more fun if there are 4 friends with GBA that play against each other. Once you figure it out it certainly becomes adictive. Easy way to pass the time, especially if you are not into the more complicated action/killing games. Of course there is the waiting you have to go through until your turn comes, but that’s how board games are - you have to wait for your turn. However, this game is not boring because it is fun to watch what is happening to the opponents and mini games often occur on somebody else’s turn that involve all the other players as well. So you end up interacting even when it is not your turn. With 3 levels of difficulty. Not such a bad game to own.
Customer Review: Tweety and the Magic Gems
Rubbish just about sums up this game. The graphics are terrible the game takes for ever to run through the computers go and the gems always seem to be in the same places. The only saving grace is the mini games which are quite good. Don’t choose this buy something else like Disney’s Donald Duck Advance.

Scrabble Scramble (GBA)
List Price: ?29.99
Used Price: ?10.49
Customer Review: Scrabble but not english
Good game, keeps the fun of the board game, but and its a big BUT the spelling is american. Colour isnt spelt color at least this game spells it like that. It allows some strange words, iii for instance and some very american abbreviations such as CIA, but not CID. Overall good but disappointing that a game sold in the UK doesnt have a ENGLISH based dictionary or at least a warning on the box!
Customer Review: It's Scrabble Jim, but not as we know it
Scrabble Scramble has some fun puzzles and word games, but the 'Classic'option is not the classic scrabble game you would expect. You choose 101, 202 or 505 tiles in your bag and are presented with a scrabble board full of tiles. You then have to make words by connecting the letters. From your starting letter you can then move to any of the eight surrounding it. Chaining letters in this fashion makes your word. So it's a scrabble game. But it's not a rack of seven letters with the challenge of placing them while fitting in with what your opponent has placed before you.

Action Replay Max (Nintendo DS)
List Price: ?19.99
Amazon Price: ?14.98
Customer Review: Useful, though occasionally annoying beyond belief…
Having read a couple of reviews, I was a touch hesitant about purchasing one of these, but went ahead and did it. I’m actually quite glad I did so, despite the hellish time I had getting the thing working. Here’s the rundown: The manual is awful. Truly, unforgivably awful. It’s partly incomprehensible, mainly as it gives menu names for functions when none are given on the system, and no pictures that link the what is actually happening. This makes it more than a little hard to follow. The menus on the DS are graphical, and bear no relation to either the titles in the manual (no piccies in the manual showing “what’s what” either) or their apparent function. It’s like looking at wingdings font in shorthand. You do, on the other hand, get used to them. The scroll function on the cheat list is slower than a sloth swimming in treacle. The software is buggy, and maybe require you to spend upwards of two hours getting the thing to update your cheat list (as you are advised to do by the unforgivably awful manual). However: It works. Provided you have the patience to get it up and running in the first place, you’ll be able to spend many happy hours cheating your way through your favourite games. Which is why I bought the thing in the first place. There is a large selection of cheats online. Huge, in fact. Just ensure you delete the ones on the cartridge first, then upload fresh ones for games you want ONLY! Otherwise the first five minutes of use each time will be spent trawling through games you either don’t own or have no interest in. It’s a little annoying to use, but hey, it does work (most of the time), and that’s what matters. It’s also probably the best known console cheating system out there, so you won’t be running short on new cheats anytime soon. Bonus.
Customer Review: Very disappointing ….
Installed it OK but a key icon is missing from the DS screen. The instruction booklet is completely unintelligible to anyone without a degree in computer science. So unable to add any new codes manually.

Game Boy Advance SP Flame Red
At first look, you might think the Game Boy Advance SP is a sleek travel alarm clock; when closed, it’s just as tall and deep as the original GBA, but only half as wide. Its clamshell design protects the screen from everyday scratches. Open it up and the hinge will seek out a preferred, pre-set angle (about 150 degrees), though you can open it a bit wider or narrower for your own comfort. The hinge stands up well to lateral pressure.

Many decried the original GBA’s reflective LCD screen and its reliance on external light sources. The Game Boy Advance SP’s main feature–optional built-in lighting–fixes this complaint nicely. The quality of the backlighting is very good; it’s bright and clear when looking directly at the screen, though less so from other angles.

The SP comes with a power adapter that recharges a built-in lithium battery; our informal tests found that it takes about four hours to fully charge (you can play it while it’s plugged in and charging), and the battery lasts about 11 hours with the backlighting constantly on. Using the backlighting less often will conserve battery power.

Size, power, and affordability don’t come without trade offs, though. There’s no headphone jack here–you’ll need a separately sold adapter–and the system isn’t very loud at its highest volume. The L and R shoulder buttons are a fraction of the size they were on the GBA, and thus are harder to hit, and the reduced size of the SP is slightly less comfortable for adult hands than the GBA. The cartridge port placement on the lower part of the console is fine for GBA games, since they are flush with the console body, but older Game Boy Color carts will stick out in a way that takes some getting used to.

Overall, the SP is a significant improvement on, and seems just as rugged as, its predecessor–which has proven to be very rugged indeed. –Porter B Hall

Customer Review: Oh boy I wish I still had mine!
I sold my GBA SP Classic NES edition to help pay for my Nintendo DS. I really like the DS but oh boy do I miss this beauty of a machine. Let’s get the moans out of the way, yes the GBA SP only had a front light and not a proper back light so the screen isn’t as colourful as the DS. And yes, you had to pay extra for an adapter if you wanted to use headphones. But stuff that, this thing is amazing and I miss my old one! So why was it so good? Well the design was spot one. I get finger burn and cramps from my DS light and my PSP when I try to play racing games, never got any pain from the GBA SP. Also this was the last portabl console to have the traditional Gameboy style layout of control buttons under the screen (instead of either side like the Lynx, GG, GBA, Neo Geo, DS & PSP). For some reason I find this layout better, don’t ask me why it just is. Some truths are as unedinable as they are unquontifiable! Next up: the NES design is a winner, easily the best looking console I’ve owned. The DS lite is sleek but this baby had charm. The light weight clam shell design is very small indeed and easily fits into any pocket I ever had. Also the battery life took a mighty wacking on many occassions. But the main reason I loved this console was the games. The great titles just kept coming and coming. I was getting a soar neck from trying to angle my old GBA under a lamp to see them. The GBA SP meant I could actually enjoy my games without hurting myself, which I think you will agree makes a nice bonus! Advance Wars, Mario Golf Advance, Sonic Advance, FIre Emblem, Metroid Fusion, Wario Ware Twisted, Aria of Sorrow, Golden Sun and Astro Boy are as good as the best any system has to offer. In fact I argue that the GBA has a lot more AAA titles then the N64, the Cube, the Xbox or any of the current gen consoles. I still play many of the GBA RPGs and SRPGs on my DS as they are yet to be bettered. But some how they doesn’t quite feel the same as they did on the GBA SP NES edition. If you’ve got one KEEP IT!
Customer Review: one of the best!
I bought one of these the day it was released and I had so much fun with it and had some cracking games for it, notably Zelda! The handheld looks gorgeous, even today, its light and can easily store it in your pocket when not using it! I sadly no longer had it as I got a psp and a DS Lite, and I got to say, for a upgrade from the GBA SP, you got to get the DS Lite, as that can play the GBA games too as well as the many great DS titles that are available to own, but the GBA is still a greta buy today if you just want a handheld with no special features like touch screen. The GBA has a lot of games from all different types to offer and so you can’t go wrong with this beauty!

Customer Review: Incredible gaming system!
First, I know that a large audience of gamers have had overheating issues with their Xbox 360s. However, I think I would be doing a disservice by downplaying the merits of this system.

What makes the Xbox 360 such a great experience is software and connectivity of the system. The Xbox live and marketplace service are wonderful features that allow you to easily and quickly play multiplayer games, as well as download game demos, movies, tv shows, etc. I especially enjoy the ability to download games before I decide to buy them.

The picture quality is amazing. Though people will argue that the only thing that matters is gameplay, I somewhat disagree. I think that incredible graphics and gameplay can help with immersing the player into the game world. A perfect example of this is Bioshock, which recently won “Game of the Year.”

The negative aspects of the system are the following:

- Noisy system fan and disc drive

- Overheating issues (I have not experienced this, but I know that a lot of early adopters of the system were affected)

- No built in wireless

- Lacks the “party” titles of the Wii

Just a little background on my gaming habits: I’ve owned an Atari, Colecovision, Famicon, Sega Genesis, Xbox, PS2 and Wii. I also own a DS and a computer for some mild gaming. I have found the Xbox 360 to be my primary source of gaming at home (with the DS being my primary when I travel on business).

I initially thought that I would be satisfied with a Wii. Though I love the concept of the system, I have been itching for more involved and immersive gaming. After I finished Zelda and Metroid, I found myself wanting a bit more. The 360 has filled that void and has energized my gaming.
