Customer Review: Pirates of the Caribbean
I didn’t expect too much from this game, as I thought it would be aimed more at the Wii. However, I expected the game play and graphics to be good. The graphics are very good, and at times you actually feel that you are watching the film. However, the game play was fairly disappointing - you can battle a foe far to easily. Once you have hit them twice, they just stand there and allow you to finish them off. However, I will say the when you battle a leader of a group (for instance Davey Jones’ first mate) the finishing moves are very satisfying. I don’t understand how this game can be rated a 16+. There is now blood or swearing, just fighting. Also, this game is not as addictive as I thought it would be. This game is not one that I would buy, but it is not a bad game on the PS3. I imagine that it would be good on the Wii.
Customer Review: Wish I spent the money elsewhere
I read the reviews watched the trailers and thought this game was a must have for the playstation 3. Whilst the graphics and visuals are nice I felt the gameplay lacking you can get through the majority of the fights by spamming the x button, the puzzles (if thats what they were meant to be) didnt offer any challenge, you were led by the hand to every objective. Are the graphics alone enough to warrant paying the money? NO I completed this game in an evening I found the duelling system laughable and the levels far to easy. I asked my eldest son to play the game he completed it in about the same time and his comments were the same as mine. When I spend this much money on a game I expect it to last me a couple of days at least but now I have a ?40 disc gathering dust on the shelf as I have no desire to play it again. Save your money and buy something else as I wish I had done

Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen 2
It’s probably for the best that Peter Cushing has already popped his clogs, because he really wouldn’t like Blood Omen 2. Not only do you play the bad guy, but the vampires in the Legacy of Kain series are more likely to talk you to death than get around to chewing on your jugular. Blood Omen 2 is a sequel to the okay-ish original, whose greatest claim to worthiness is that it spawned two much higher quality spin-offs, in the form of Soul Reavers One and Two.

The original Blood Omen was a top-down, 2-D, vaguely Zelda-esque action RPG that sold pretty much on the fact that you were the baddie and could run around drinking innocent people’s vital fluids. This new game has the same concept, but because everything’s now in 3-D, it comes across as nothing more than a poor man’s Soul Reaver 2. Despite the fact that there’s just as much combat in this game as Soul Reaver, you’re saddled with a very sluggish control system and the puzzles have been made much less interesting–90% of them involve pulling switches. The game is also incredibly linear and the graphics, although quite detailed in places, suffer from some of the worst slowdown ever seen on the PS2.

In short, if you’re a fan of the Legacy of Kain series buy Soul Reaver 2 instead. If you can take or leave all the vampire nonsense then Ico or Jak & Daxter are much better entries in the hall of 3D adventuring fame. –David Jenkins

Customer Review: EXCELLENT SEQUEL TO THE UNDERRATED ORIGINAL
Being one of the few fans of the somewhat “niche” original “Legacy of Kain” from waaaaay back in ‘96, I have been eagerly awaiting a sequel on a next-generation console. The “Soul Reaver” spin-offs were beautifully done, but a bit of a letdown in terms of gameplay. Enter Blood Omen 2, and all is once again right with the world.

One of the first things that hits you with this title is the absolutely gorgeous graphics. The visuals do an excellent job of conveying the grim, gothic world of Kain, which blends the medieval with a sort of mystical analog to modern technology. The atmosphere is further helped by a haunting musical score (though not quite as good as the crashing symphonies of the “Soul Reaver” games) and appropriate sound effects. Simon Templeman delivers a great performance as he once again lends his sinister voice to Kain, putting to shame all those games out there with cheap, laughable voice acting.

Gameplay is considerably better than in the “Soul Reaver” series. While the combat can be at times tedious and opponents can land some fairly cheap hits, overall it’s less stilted than in Blood Omen’s sister series. Kain blocks attacks realistically, and has a number of weapons to use on his enemies. These swords, axes and clubs can also be used on the peasants and townsfolk you will encounter, which leads to a key aspect of gameplay - blood drinking. Being a vampire, Kain needs to feed constantly, and there is a darkly satisfying pleasure in preying on the townspeople.

The only real drawbacks come from the price we have to pay for such excellent visuals; the game chugs and skips when things get hectic; three enemies and a peasant all on the screen at once can slow things down quite a bit. The puzzles are fairly simplistic - “pull a lever here, which powers another lever over there” kind of thing. Combat, as I said before, can get tedious; however, this can be offset by Kain’s ability to sneak up on enemies by hiding in mist and “stealth killing” them.

Overall, drawbacks aside, this is one you want to add to your collection, especially if you’re like me and actually own and still enjoy the original Blood Omen. Pass over the “Soul Reaver” games as rental-only - this is the true sequel we’ve been waiting for.

Customer Review: For the completist only………………
This is another game in the series of The Legacy of Kain. This was released after Blood Omen 1 and Soul Reaver 1(both on the psone) and then Soul Reaver 2.After this game, Blood Omen 2, comes the final installment of Defiance.

    So how does this fare?

Well the graphics are nowhere near as good as the other ps2 offerings in this series - Soul Reaver 2 and Defiance both put this game to shame. The graphics can best be described as functional. When i originally bought this i was utterly disappointed by the graphics.

The sound is okay, but nowhere near as atmospheric as the other Legacy of Kain games.

The game plays very poorly in my view. The control of Kain, a supernatural creature i.e a vampire is dire.He plays like a character swamped in treacle at times - and to line him up for climbing a ladder is so frustrating that you feel the urge to switch the ps2 off!

Those are the bad points. The plus points are some of his combat moves and special abilities. Also, his blood draining moves are entertaining. Also good, is the plot - it fills in more of the gaps in the Legacy particularly with Janos, Vorador and Mobius. The puzzles are okay too, though they could be a bit tougher.

All in all this game is very average and the poorest entry into the Legacy of Kain series. BUT - if you are a fan of the series you are going to want to play this.Being a completist of the games i had to have this, and when i play through the entire series i do play this game.Though i do rush through it and am glad when it is over i have to admit.

If this is your first Legacy of Kain game - STOP - go back and play it from either Blood Omen 1 (very old now) or Soul Reaver 1, which are both psone games. You will then get the full plotline in order and see that this game is just a blip in the otherwise excellent series of games.Buy this cheaply and don’t expect too much and you won’t be disappointed. It is the weakest in the series by a long way, but don’t let it put you off the others…………Defiance is the last, and best game in the series by a mile, but you will want to play them in order to get the full history.

Customer Review: Only worth buying if you’re a big fan of the film!
Although the characters and the scenery look great, the controls are extremely awkward. Apart from that it looks and sounds great, but to me that just isn’t enough! As I said before it’s only worth buying if you’re a big fan of the film!
Customer Review: Unfortunately it may remain lost….
We were so excited to buy this game after seeing and really enjoying the film. The scenes on the packaging were great and promised interesting challenges. Unfortunately the scenes are rather dark and it is difficult to play unless you get the light exactly right. Having said that, there is something for everyone from the youngest player to those wanting something more. I think this will be a hit with those who like the movie but for others, a first glance will put them off as its difficult to see well enough to play easily

Customer Review: quick n easy but fun
I dont often complete games- usualy i get bored and move on to the next one when im half way through. I managed to finish this game in a little over 6 hours- it was that easy. i wont argue that the gameplay itself wasnt fun, it just felt like you were rushed through the game without having much of a chance to just explore. You also level up so quickly that by the time you’re half way through the battles are so easy that u never need to use potions to restore health- just wait til you level again. on the plus side- and this is a big plus, i was addicted for the whole 6 hours i played (spread over 2 days), the plot stays pretty much to the book and the graphics are great.
    Customer Review: Very disappointing
As a pretty average game boy player I was amazed at how easy this game was to complete. Also I felt it was very dull as the challenges are all very similar i.e. look for five items, or walk into a monster and take turns to hit each other. I would not recommend this game unless you want the satisfaction of completing it, believe me, it won’t take you very long.

Backyard Wrestling: Don’t Try This at Home (PS2)
Customer Review: looks fun but really isn't
this game is something that looks attractive from the outset but the game play is shocking. th only good things are:
1)Settings can provoke different attacks from things like irish whips.
2)Finishing moves look quite spectacular and the graphics look good then.

but for these are the only plus points.apart from that it is shocking as basically once you put a move in you win because it is almost impossible to reverse anything. No contrast in the matches and playing multiplayer is pointless because the winner is just the person who puts the first move in. Although it looks tempting and harmless fun it isn't SO DON'T BUY IT!!

Customer Review: don’t PLAY this at home!
smackdown is a good wrestling game, backyard wrestling is not!
wcw on the n64 is a good wrestling game, backyard wrestling is not!
this game really should be good, you can pick up all manner of weapons to batter you opponents with, you can throw them off of roofs, you can light matresses on fire and chuck your oponents into them, but nothing feels good, nothing goes as planned, the controls are poor, the blocking and combat system is poor, the levels are pretty poor aswell, i’ve played plenty of games in my time (since the days of the commodore 64) and beleive me i know a BAD game, if you have an interest in backyard wrestling or just like wrestling on the tele don’t be fooled, i know this looks quite cool but it is rubbish. with it’s moon pysics when you jump off something you go ten foot up in the air first, you can’t really do alot with the weapons, and when you do get a chance to hit someone with a weapon it breaks.
