In a nutshell:
After the last game became the best selling launch title for the Xbox 360, Activision aren’t wasting any time with the follow-up as you do you bit to help out with the Normandy breakout and the liberation of France.
The lowdown:
Despite the new digit in the title this isn’t so much a sequel to Call of Duty 2 on the 360 and PC as it is Call of Duty: Big Red One on the PS2, Xbox and GameCube. It’s by the same developer (Treyarch), there’s no PC version and it doesn’t feature three distinct armies, but instead a recreation of the Normandy breakout. That’s not to suggest it’s short on new ideas though with much larger levels than ever before and far more vehicles to control (particularly in the Battlefield like multiplayer mode). There’s also a new Resident Evil 4 style quick time event system for hand-to-hand combat where you have to hit specific buttons to sock it to the Nazi hordes.
Most exciting moment:
It may seem a bit shallow to go on about the game’s explosions but really, there’s never been anything as realistic as the fireworks in this game. The way the smoke moves is particularly amazing, even drifting in the wind or dispersing after a second nearby explosion.
Since you ask:
Although Activision has confirmed nothing yet they have hinted that original Call of Duty developers Infinity Ward are working on their own sequel, primarily for the PC. When it will come out and whether it will be translated to the next generation consoles is currently unknown.
The bottom line:
The best WII first person shooter looks to be getting even better.

Customer Review: Excellent game
i echo many other reviews when i say this game is awesome. It’s a pity they never released this on the PC.
Customer Review: rubbish
CoD3 is a massive let down. Its the one bad apple in an overwise brilliant series. You never feel like your part of anything, you dont have the scale or openess of any of the other CoD games. CoD3 is full of glithe’s and poor programing, add to that the verging on retarded A.I and you really do question the logic in playing this game. I’ve owned it for god knows how long and have got no where near completing it, I see neither the insentive or need to do so. The only reason why iv’e not traded it in is that i would only get a few quid for it. If you like this game you either have a low brain capacity or are an avid world war game nut.

Whereas Crash Bandicoot is often described as the PlayStation’s answer to Sonic the Hedgehog, the nearest Sony’s machine ever got to a 3-D Super Mario-style adventure was the Spyro the Dragon titles. They may have been a little simplistic but they were better efforts than most and this new isometric offering on the GBA is also surprisingly fun.
Spyro has the same basic range of moves as on the PlayStation as you jump and float around the game world breathing fire at all and sundry. Although the basic gameplay simply involves you collecting hundreds of fairies and other items, much effort is made to ensure things don’t get too monotonous, mostly through a long series of sub-quests and mini-games. The mini-games are particularly good as they often use a side-on or first person perspective, which makes for a nice change of pace.
The only problem with the game is the rather empty feeling to it all–the levels are enormous and it’s easy to get lost–but this is a problem that could easily be levelled at the original PlayStation games so it seems unfair to criticise too harshly. It’s hardly revolutionary but a pleasing amount of effort has gone into this and it’s certain to please fans of the series. –David Jenkins
