Tips & Tricks Gaming Magazine Nov 2006 (Destroy All Humans 2)

June 26th, 2009

51S2GNGY50L. SL160 Tips & Tricks Gaming Magazine Nov 2006 (Destroy All Humans 2)The only official guide from the insiders at Nintendo! NEW SUPER STRATEGIES Mario?s return to platforming is cause for a Koopa-crushing celebration. Use the official Player?s Guide to get the most out of your retro-fueled adventure. Multiplayer tactics! Maps for all 80 levels! Warps and secrets revealed! Tips for grabbing 240 Star Coins! Complete strategy for the all new Nintendo DS game – New Super Mario Bros.
Used Price: $15.00
Customer Review: Extremely helpful to help find all those star coins, also an enjoyable read
This guide is very helpful for those players who wish to find all the star coins and are just having trouble finding some of the secrets. Certainly, some of the fun is experimenting and finding the secrets but there are some that are so “tricky” (for lack of a better word), that the book can save hours of hunting. The book also gives some hints and strategies albeit not quite as detailed as may be needed at times. Additionally, the world 8 Bowser castle (the very last one) instructions are a little difficult to follow albeit the player must flip the castle several times during the course of play and that can be difficult to describe. The pictures are very good; my only caveat is that the pictures in the book do not display where the enemies may be thus during the course of play, even when following the book, an unwelcome surprise enemy may appear unexpectedly. Still, the player has to do SOMETHING on their own! All in all, this book was extremely helpful in guiding the player to some of the secrets. The sections other than the walkthrough were an enjoyable read. Likewise, the mini games are described as well as the Mario versus Luigi game. Noteworthy, the mini games can be played with more than two players. Finally, the beginning of the book has a description of the enemies encountered and the potential havoc they wreak. Hints are given regarding some of Mario’s advanced moves such as wall jumping, ground pounds, triple jumps, et cetera. The descriptions of the enemies were cleverly written and included such alliterations as nautical nightmares, piscine perils and bulbous beasties. These enemies are well described and fun reading. Some of the secrets to acquiring the several different available toad houses are also revealed. Packed full of information, the book definitely seemed worth the price.
Customer Review: Very good guide
I bought this for my wife who loves the game and just couldn’t figure out some pieces of the game, like how to get to the two bottom worlds. After she got this she was able to get to them easily as well as find things out about the game she didn’t know before. Very well designed and great pics of the levels.

51lwzjLy0ZL. SL160 Tips & Tricks Gaming Magazine Nov 2006 (Destroy All Humans 2)With the Xbox 360 still selling like two week old sushi in Japan, Capcom remains Microsoft’s biggest supporter from the land of the rising uppercut. Realising there’s no point trying to appeal to the local market their games so far have all been very much Western in style, as exemplified by the well-received Dead Rising. This was intended as a third person take on Halo and even though the similarities are ultimately minor it’s still one of the 360’s best action games. Like most Capcom games the story (and particularly dialogue and voiceovers) is not one of the game’s best features, but thankfully there’s not much that needs explaining when you’re fighting monster bugs and giant robot riding snow pirates.

Like Halo you can have only two weapons at a time and use a recharging shield. This though is powered by an always decreasing supply of thermal energy, topped up from defeated enemies. Apart from this the only other piece of gadgetry you have to help you is a grappling hook, although it remains largely underused in the single player campaign. The various mechs you can commandeer are a great deal of fun though, with different variants being able to jump, hover or transform into vehicles. Graphically the game is excellent, with some awesomely large Starship Troopers style bugs and possibly the best explosions ever in gaming.

Where the game gets into trouble is the brevity of the single player campaign. Although this is compensated by the online multiplayer mode, even that cannot overcome the game’s innate simplicity. Complexity, or even longevity, is not what this game is about though and in terms of offering plenty of big dumb fun it succeeds admirably.

Customer Review: So Much Potential….but ..so Average
Okay I bought this game hoping for something different with stunning graphics and great surroundings and good gameplay however, it has to be said – this had none of them. Right fronm the start the game is boring and ordinarily average. The 3rd person view is so far away it makes shotting 10 times harder than it should be. I really wanted to enjoy this game but I didn’t. Not reccomended.
Customer Review: Mutton dressed as lamb …
I ordered this game expecting something epic. What I got was something … not. Don’t get me wrong, it looks (as countless others have stated) quite simply breathtaking, but I’m afraid in this case it’s just mutton dressed as lamb. So what’s wrong with it? Well, for one thing there’s no save option, and the game only auto-saves at the end of each mission. I read a review where someone said that it could take up to 2 hours to complete missions, and at the time thought it couldn’t POSSIBLY take that long. How wrong I was. Some even took longer. That’s all right if you’re a hard-core gamer, but for the short-session gamer its a bit too much to suffer. The other major let-down was the scripting for the cutscenes. Although the plot itself isn’t bad, the cutscenes were almost painful to watch, with consistently twee, puerile and in places unbelievably cheesy (‘I WILL kill Isenberg!!’) dialogue. It wasn’t the content that was wrong – it was the tone. I personally also loathed the constantly re-spawning baddies, forcing you into a ‘duck and dive’ style of gameplay. When I shoot the bad guys, I like ‘em dead. Period. If I’d played a demo I wouldn’t have bothered with the game. I even considered not bothering to finish it, but as my obsessive nature wouldn’t permit that, I played on expecting there would at least be a satisfying ending. Wrong again. Gameplay stops, there’s a pathetic attempt at a plot tie-up, then the credits roll. All in all, unless you like games where you endlessly shoot things for no apparent reason, and are prepared to put in long sessions, I suggest you give this one a wide berth.

In a nutshell:
Real-time strategy games are not normally the sort of thing you see on a console but EA have pulled out all the stops to make The Battle for Middle-Earth II work on the Xbox 360, with easy to learn controls and mountains of online options.

The lowdown:
Although most real-time strategy games are designed around using a PC keyboard and mouse they usually never get to appear on a console. With this game you’d never have guessed there was ever a problem with just a few button presses allowing you to direct vast armies and construct huge castles and encampments. Although the game is set during the same time period as the movies the action is focused elsewhere in Middle-Earth, although there’s still plenty of familiar faces. Although it benefits more than most from a HDTV screen the only real problem with the game is a slightly short single player campaign, but that shouldn’t be enough to put you off this rare console strategy treat.

Most exciting moment:
The best way to play the game is undoubtedly online, with five all new and very different game modes. The capture the flag mode works particularly well and ensures that multiplayer games never drag on too long or get too defensive.

Since you ask:
The success of this game will not only influence EA’s decision to bring Command & Conquer 3 to the Xbox 360 but THQ are also considering console versions of their real-time strategy games Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War and Company of Heroes.

The bottom line:
The first proper console based real-time strategy game for years.

Customer Review: An effective RTS on a console.
I really liked this game, the controls are effective and feel natural the missiopns are enjoyable never frustrating and the presentation is excellent. Much like command and conquer it is very familiar all round but the gameplay is not bogged down by annoying cut scenes and novelty missions.
Customer Review: Really hated this game
This game, to me, is boring, repetitive, and generally unfulfilling. I hoped for this game to be one where the land of middle-earth could be used to build up an army and create a civilization and then go on to conquer more land. However, it is simply a mission-based bore-fest with a crap frame rate to top it off. The first moment you annialate an army is good, but from then onwards, i cared little. If you’re a LOTR fan, who prefers battle-top style wars, then this could be for you. However, don’t expect a sandbox style god-game. That would have been cool

Wow what a great product, exactly what I needed and so much more affordable than the official version! I must admit seeing that the product had only 1 review before was a bit of a deterrent, but I thought go for it anyway. I received the product very quickly and I now have my new monitor and hi-fi hooked up with this lead to my xbox 360. Perfect picture. No reservations, buy this instead of the official one!
Customer Review: Very Good
I bought this cable to connect the 360 to my projector. As soon as you plug it in the 360 options give you a list of available resolutions suitable for monitors and projectors with a VGA port. I was able to select 1024×768 and the picture looks stunning rendered in the projectors native format. The optical digital sound output also works perfectly :)

612MV2Z7GSL. SL75 Xbox 360 64MB Memory UnitRayman Advance is perhaps the first real must-play Game Boy Advance game available. It’s a full conversion of the PlayStation classic brought to life in vivid detail with level-by-level optimisations, gorgeous graphics, large, detailed and well-animated characters and that patented Rayman gameplay that Ubi Soft has been delivering for years now.

Those unfamiliar with the character and story should expect yet another cute take on the 2-D side-scrolling adventure game but Rayman easily stands alongside Mario in terms of brilliance. Rayman, a cute, big-nosed guy with a pompadour fringe and an infectiously upbeat attitude, is the Guardian of the World. Oddly, he has hands and feet but no arms or legs to support them–but that doesn’t stop him from doing his thing. His powers include jumping, clinging to ledges, using his ears as a helicopter, and most importantly, punching. A helpful fairy doles out these powers to you as you complete tasks and progress in the game. Rayman’s task, as usual, is to defeat enemies and free creatures (called Toons) caught in great iron boxes. He also collects “tings”, which he can use to barter with magicians as he rids his bizarre little world of oppression from the likes of colourful bosses Moskito and big bad Space Mama.

The most striking thing about Rayman Advance is its graphics and gameplay. The design is extremely creative, there are things to bounce on, ride and grab and other tricks to do. It’s the sort of game that always has you doing something new, which is no mean feat considering it spans 60 levels. A first rate 2-D platform game for all ages. –Andrew S Bub
