Customer Review: No Problems - Excellent
I bought my 360 Elite on 27/12/07, and so far have had absolutely no problems whatsoever with it. I’m completely satisfied with it. It might be a little noisier than other consoles I’ve owned, but no more than the average home PC, and when you consider the similarities between the two, it’s easy to dismiss the noise. Besides, it’s not jet-engine loud, it’s more of a low hum. I work for an electrical goods store, and the Premium model we have running on our display there has been there since the day the console was first released, and that has not developed any problems either. The thing both these machines have in common is that they are given plenty of room to breathe, and by that I don’t mean “make sure you don’t stack other electrical devices on top of it”, I mean they both have a lot of clear space around the intakes. One of the technicians I’ve spoken to reckons the majority of the time he examines a machine with the Red Ring Of Death, the guts of the machine come out looking like ashtrays. Is that Microsoft’s fault? No. Do NOT smoke around electrical devices. Especially not ones that have fans designed to draw in cool, smoke-free air. You are just asking for trouble, even when you consider the fact that Microsoft now has a 3 year instant replacement policy in place from date of purchase. Treat your machine like the piece of specialised equipment it is, and you should be fine.

There are better things to do with your money than buy this piece of junk. Playstation 3 springs to mind. This will be the year for the playstation to rise from the ashes. The console was not well thought out and was rushed to the shelves to take advantage of th gap in the market.

Customer Review: Excellent Tool To Improve French
I bought this for myself to use on my son’s DS Lite to brush up my school learnt French some twenty odd years ago. It tests you at first to see what lesson to start you on. You read about how to write French and translate English into French before inserting words into sentences, find words in word searches, hit moles on the head that have the right word wrote on them and answer multi choice questions. The words are said in French which helps you to hear how you should pronounce it. Each time you do a lesson or a game you are awarded points, when you attain enough points, ie show you understand the words/lesson the next lesson opens up. This is a fun way to brush up on French or to use an ancilliary aid for the kids learning French at school. I would definitely buy it if my sons were in secondary school or even in primary to give them a head start. I definitely recommend it for those wanting to learn a language, brush up on a language or for kids to help them at school. The main thing it is fun but you are learning at the same time.

A real missed opportunity here! The basic concept is OK. Repetition helps in language learning and a little fun helps you learn without getting too bored. Unfortunately these games won’t keep you interested for too long. When it comes to content this game has the same FATAL error as My French Coach 2 - it tries to teach vocabulary without giving you gender and so only does half the job and makes it impossible to even simple gramatical construction without recourse to an ordinary paper dictionary. It should have been very easy to include un/une in the dictionary and in all the vocab lessons (or even to do it subliminally with colour) - but it seems that no one associated with this project has pointed this out! The best thing about this Level 1 version is that it DOES (unlike Level 2, the Vocab trainer) include good pronunciation files. Neverthless the omission of Gender suggests that you should spend your money elsewhere (especially if this games is one of your main reasons for buying a DS as it was in my case!).

Customer Review: Zoo tycoon DS
Zoo Tycoon is a pretty good adaption of the PC game to the DS format. The tracking is kinda slow, you can’t zoom out enough for a decent overview, the sound FX are limited and you will get serious eyestrain with the small graphics. BUT, and it is a big BUT, this game is just as addictive as the PC format. You will have hours of fun building your zoo and keeping both animals and guest happy, and you will delight in problem busting when things need tweaking as the game progresses. Overall, this is a great game which is perfect when you can’t play the full PC version and you’d like that great, addictive hit that this game brings. That’s how I look at it. Well worth a buy for most DS game collections.
Customer Review: Not as good as the PC version!
I LOVE the PC versions of Zoo Tycoon and Zoo Tycoon 2 (I have all the expansions) so when I got my DS I was really pleased to see I could have a transportable version of the game. Safe to say I was disappointed. I played it a couple of times, found it limited and tiny. The grid was VERY annoying as you couldn’t see where you were putting ground types down and overall it just pales into insignificance compared to the PC versions. It has sat on the shelf since the day after I bought it and will stay there until I trade it in!
